Baltic Chiefs of Defence meet in Nemenčinė

Today, November 26, meeting of the Baltic Chiefs of Defence will begin in General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre in Nemenčinė (Vilnius distr.). The meeting will last for two days with attendance of the Lithuanian Chief of Defence Maj. Gen. Arvydas Pocius, Chief of Defence of Latvia Maj. Gen. Juris Maklakovs and Chief of Defence of Estonia Lt. Gen. Ants Laaneots.

Meeting of the Baltic Military Committee will be chaired by the Lithuanian Chief of Defence Maj. Gen. Arvydas Pocius.

The meeting will primarily address Baltic defence cooperation: preparation of the joint Baltic Battalion BALTBAT for standby in NRF in the first half of 2010, and other possible modes of its applicability, NATO Baltic Air-policing mission, questions of development of the Baltic Defence College and officer training, and participation in international operations.
